On July 17, 2007, the gross gambling profits in Macau for the first 6 months of the year are 38.27 billion patacas or an equivalent of $4.79 billion, a year-on-year improvement of 46.26%, according to the government's official figures.
According to Macau's Directorate of Gaming Inspection and Coordination, the second quarter casino profits were 19.772 billion patacas or an equivalent of $2.471, the biggest value ever achieved in the second quarter and a yearly increase of 48.91%.
The casino facilities in Macau had a gross profit of 37.974 billion patacas or an equivalent of $4.746 billion in the first 6 months of the year and 19.567 billion patacas or an equivalent of $2.445 billion in the second quarter.
Profits from Macau's casino in the first 6 months of 2007 are already bigger compared to 2003, where players spent 30.314 billion patacas.
4 types of baccarat games - the normal baccarat, the VIP baccarat, mini-baccarat and the 3 card baccarat, maintained their huge following and produced 86.8% of total profits in the first half of the year, with the VIP baccarat producing a total receipt of 25.208 billion patacas or an equivalent of $3.151 billion.
Macau currently has 26 casinos with 18 of those casinos belonging to Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, 5 casinos to Galaxy, with Venetian, Wynn Resorts and Melco PBL operating one casino each.
